The Early Reader Tent features accessible readings and hands-on activities for children ages 6 to 8. Children are invited to engage in stories through sensory play, STREAM activities, drawing and theatre workshops, and more! All of this while authors and illustrators share their picture books and early reader books. These presentations are sure to inspire even the most reluctant reader.

On Saturday, please note one presentation requires mandatory masking, with masks being provided by Telling Tales. On Sunday, this tent has ASL interpretation thanks to Silent Voice and Undivided Productions.

The Early Reader Tent is located in RBG’s Rose Garden Tent, East of the central Rose Garden and includes activity stations to accommodate different styles of audience engagement, including a seating area near an exit for children that prefer to be slightly removed from amplified sounds and would like to use Telling Tales’ collection of fidget toys and colouring sheets.

Directly following each presentation head to A Different Drummer Books, Official Children’s Bookseller (located just North of the tent) to buy your favourite featured book and then to the nearby Autograph Tent to have it signed by the author!

These presentations are designed for family audiences and would be most enjoyed by children ages 6 to 8.

Accessibility Note: Expect a 1-2 minute walk between all Programming Tents and Autograph Tents.
