Laura Ellis is an award-winning actor, director, writer and arts educator in the theatre and film industry. Over the past fifteen years, she has worked with several companies including the Hamilton Film Festival, Nightwood Theatre, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, Canadian Stage, Tarragon Theatre, the Magnetic North Theatre Festival, and Theatre Aquarius. Laura is the Artistic Director/Co-Founder of Women’s Work: an all-female writer’s collective in Hamilton), and Co-Founder/Facilitator of the Hamilton L.O.F.T (Ladies of Film & Television): a film collective for women/non-binary artists to network, find mentorship and training opportunities, and create/promote their work. In 2015, she was the recipient of the Emerging Artist Award in Theatre Performance from The City of Hamilton Arts Awards and was the Host for last year’s virtual awards show. Currently, Laura is the community producer and Host of Cable 14’s show “Backstage Pass” which showcases the talent of local artists.
