When Delia takes her mother’s beaded earrings to school without permission, and loses one, she asks her grandmother to help her replace it. But the earring cannot be replaced: it was a handmade gift given to celebrate her mother’s Métis citizenship. Delia didn’t know her family was Métis, and as she learns more about her family heritage, she discovers a way to make things right.
