MARCUS CUTLER has always loved drawing weird and silly characters, and making up weird and silly stories. So, he feels very lucky that that’s his job! His favourite things to draw are monsters, and his least favourite things to draw are bicycles.
He first had the idea for The Crayon Stub a long time ago, back in 2015. Originally the characters were kids, then they were elephants, and now they’re cats. So, it’s clear that he struggles with art, just like Big Cat does in the book. Marcus is excited that this story about sibling shenanigans and relentless creativity is now being shared with readers.
Marcus is a graduate of Sheridan College, and OCAD University where he spent tons of time learning how to draw and paint. He’s the author/illustrator of I Do Not Eat Children, and the illustrator of Do Not Turn the Page! By Jane Blondie, The Three Canadian Pigs by Jocelyn Watkinson, the Lark Ba Detective series by Natasha Deen, and many more.
When he’s not writing or drawing weird things, Marcus enjoys practicing kung fu, and eating pizza while watching movies with his wife and daughters. He lives in Tecumseh, Ontario.
