Lawrence Hill is perhaps …best known for the award-winning and internationally bestselling author of The Book of Negroes, which was made into a six-part TV mini-series. The Illegal, won CBC’s Canada Reads and was a #1 national bestseller. This year he released his first novel for children, Beatrice and Croc Harry, to great acclaim. Lawrence Hill has volunteered with Crossroads International, the Black Loyalist Heritage Society, Book Clubs for Inmates the Ontario Black History Society and teaches creative writing at the University of Guelph. Once a Burlington resident, Lawrence now lives with his family in Hamilton, Ontario and also spends time at Woody Point, Newfoundland.
