Camila Garcia is a Brazilian-Canadian queer storyteller, educator, and multidisciplinary artist who loves gathering children and families around a good story. With a background in journalism, theatre, and audiovisual storytelling, she brings voice, movement, music, and imagination together to create screen-free experiences that feel cozy, playful, and alive.
Her storytelling is inspired by nature, seasonal rhythms, and traditional folktales, and often includes songs, simple props, and gentle audience participation. Camila’s performances invite children to slow down, listen with their whole bodies, and step into story as something shared — where curiosity leads the way and imagination has room to breathe.
Camila has worked for many years with young children in Waldorf-inspired and outdoor education settings, including as a kindergarten assistant and summer camp director. These experiences shape her work deeply, guiding how she holds space, follows the energy of the group, and honours the inner world of the child. She is especially passionate about offering thoughtful, joyful alternatives to fast-paced digital content.
In 2023, Camila received the Alice Kane Award from Storytelling Toronto. She is the founder of Hi Blue Butterfly, through which she offers storytelling performances, nature-based programs, and creative resources for children, families, and educators.
Camila’s stories feel right at home outdoors — under trees, in gardens, or tucked inside a festival tent — where families can gather, listen, sing, and wander into imagination together.
