Next StoryScapes: Starts November 2025!
Telling Tales’ StoryScapes returns this fall with three exciting new events in the series. Join digital wizard and author, Marty Chan, as he hosts engaging virtual workshops on November 5, November 19, and December 3, 2025 at 9:15 AM ET.
What to Expect:
In each session you’ll meet a Canadian illustrator from Telling Tales’ 2025 Reading List, hear a reading of the picture book they illustrated, and learn about how they create art in their own unique style.
Each session will also feature a take home project! Based on a creative prompt inspired by the themes present in the featured book, participants will be invited to make their own unique creation using the same artistic style shared by the participating illustrator. Submit your artwork to Telling Tales’ Try My Style Project for a chance to win copies of the featured story! (Details on how to submit your art will go out to registrants following each event.)
These workshops are perfect for children in Grades 1 to 6.
Meet the Featured Illustrators:
Anoosha Syed – November 5, 2025
Presented as part of I Read Canadian Day celebrations, in partnership with Forest of Reading

Anoosha is a woman who wears many hats! One of those hats is being an illustrator of over forty children’s books! In this session she’ll share how she created the gorgeously vibrant and textured illustrations in Anitha Rao-Robinson’s story Sari Sisters with a mix of mediums.
Kid Haile – November 19, 2025

Kid is the author and illustrator behind the deliciously engaging picture book Sometimes I Eat With My Hands. In this session he’ll share how he created these simple but impactful illustrations in his debut story with just a few easy-to-access basic art supplies.
Thao Lam – December 3, 2025

Thao is the author and illustrator of the body positive picture book Everybelly! In this session she’ll share how she created these textured and eye-catching illustrations in her debut story using scrap paper. You’ll want to start saving interesting packaging and paper scraps to try this style for yourself!
This live-streamed workshop is free to registered classrooms, educators, or learners anywhere in the world. If you’re interested in participating, but you’re in a different time zone, please register anyway! A recording of the session will be available for a limited time for registrants following the live event.
Our goal is to engage reluctant readers by providing alternative entry points and to inspire enthusiasm in both students and educators. At Telling Tales we believe that nurturing a passion for reading represents the initial stride towards literacy skills capable of transforming lives.
