A FREE virtual three-day graphic novel extravaganza!

Ever wonder how a graphic novel is made? We did too! That’s why we created Celebrating Graphic Novels—to connect classrooms across Canada with graphic novelists from coast to coast. Hosted by Kevin Sylvester, these three interactive virtual author visits gave participants the unique opportunity to learn the ins and outs of graphic novels, from the seed of an idea, all the way to a published book you can hold in your hands.

Demonstrating their writing and illustrating methods and styles, these professional creatives invited viewers to follow along as they showcased their latest stories and dove into the colourful, exciting world of graphic novels. Each author session is live, and recordings are available to watch (or re-watch) on-demand for one week after their premiere.

Designed especially for children in Grades 1–6 but open to anyone interested in this vibrant form of storytelling, the CGN festival engaged readers of all ages—even the reluctant ones!

Missed it this year? No worries! Be sure to visit our website in June 2026 to register you and your classroom for this amazing opportunity.
