JENNIFER HARRIS is the author of a number picture books, including The Witching Hour (illustrated by Adelina Lirius, Tundra / Penguin Random House), When You Were New (illustrated by Lenny Wen; HarperCollins), and She Stitched the Stars: A Story of Ellen Harding Baker’s Solar System Quilt (illustrated by Louise Pigott; Albert Whitman). Her third picture book The Keeper of Stars, (illustrated by Dorothy Leung; OwlKids), was a 2004 Junior Library Guild Gold Standard selection, a TD Summer Reading Club Book, and a Canadian Children’s Booknews Recommended Book. Jennifer writes all her stories in a cozy blue chair in a little storybook house in Waterloo, Ontario, where she lives with her husband and children. She also teaches at the University of Waterloo, including courses on children’s literature and writing for children—they even let her teach a class on writing picture books! Previously she taught at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, where she got to hang out in marshes, and get stuck in the mud of the Bay of Fundy.
