Our presenters are the heart and soul of Telling Tales’ programming. It is your enthusiasm and love for stories that inspire thousands of children every year to fall in love with reading. We would love to hear more about what stories you would like to present through Telling Tales. Together, we can inspire more story-lovers than ever before!
Telling Tales recognizes how vital it is that children see themselves and others reflected in stories. Each year we strive to feature a diverse roster of stories that appeal to a broad range of tastes and interests.
2025 Book Submissions Are Now Open!
Submit a published book for consideration by Telling Tales’ Selection Advisory Committee (SAC).
Titles selected by the SAC will be included on Telling Tales’ Reading List and used as a resource for programming our community events, including the 17th Telling Tales Festival.
Criteria for Consideration
The book submitted must meet the following requirements:
- has a Canadian creator (either author or illustrator)
- is children’s literature (Telling Tales serves children ages 0-18 in its programming)
- is current and/or a new release (published between August 2024 and September 2025)

2025 Non-Publishing Presenter Applications Are Now Open!
Telling Tales values many forms of storytelling. If you are another kind of storyteller, such as an oral storyteller, musician, visual artist, or slam poet (to list just a few) we encourage you to apply.
Applications will be reviewed and selected by Telling Tales Programming Staff for our annual Telling Tales Festival.
To apply you must:
- provide contact information for the primary contact
- be available to present in-person at the Royal Botanical Gardens’ Hendrie Park in Burlington, ON on Saturday, September 19, 2025 and/or Sunday, September 20, 2025
