Kesha Christie

Kesha Christie is a TEDx speaker, children’s author, and celebrated Afro-Caribbean storyteller whose dynamic performances captivate audiences of all ages. Known for her rhythmic delivery, expressive movement, and deep cultural insight, Kesha brings the rich folktale traditions of Africa and the Caribbean to life through high-energy, interactive storytelling.

As the creator and host of Walk Good: African & Caribbean Folktales and the founder of the Talkin’ Tales storytelling platform, Kesha shares powerful stories that highlight resilience, wisdom, and the universal human experience. Her performances feature vibrant character voices, call-and-response, music, and audience participation—creating unforgettable moments that foster connection, imagination, and early literacy development.

Kesha is also the author of two children’s books: Mama Keeya’s Garden, a heartwarming story about curiosity and belonging, and Why Tortoise Doesn’t Fly, a lively retelling inspired by traditional African folklore. Through her books and performances, she nurtures cultural pride and encourages young readers to see storytelling as both a creative art and a pathway to literacy.

Her work has been featured in schools, libraries, community organizations, and cultural festivals across Canada. Kesha specializes in youth programming, using folktales to strengthen vocabulary, comprehension, narrative sequencing, and expressive communication. She frequently incorporates riddles, proverbs, drumming, and story-building exercises that invite children to actively participate and find their own storytelling voice.

In addition to performing, Kesha is the founder of Own Your Voice, a coaching and speaking program that empowers youth and adults to build confidence, communicate with clarity, and share their stories with impact. A proud member of Storytellers of Canada and Durham Storytellers, she has shared her work on major stages, including TEDxTorontoMetU.

With a mission to uplift, educate, and connect communities through the power of story, Kesha Christie continues to inspire audiences through performances, books, workshops, and digital content that nourish the imagination and celebrate cultural heritage.
